Yerevan Mayor Announces New Construction Start Dates for Road Between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues
YEREVAN, January 29. /ARKA/. The construction of the highway linking Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues in Yerevan is set to commence in the spring of 2026, as stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
"The tender process has been completed, and a winner has been chosen. The final selection for the technical supervision tender is now pending. Following this, construction will kick off in the spring," Avinyan mentioned during a government meeting on Thursday.
It was earlier reported that Armenia was set to receive a €60 million loan from the Asian Development Bank to support the "Yerevan Urban Development Investment Program" (the loan features a 17-year repayment period and an interest rate of 1.3%).
This program encompasses the construction of a road between Isakov and Arshakunyats Avenues, a 269-meter reinforced concrete bridge over the Hrazdan River, and the renovation and landscaping of the area surrounding Komitas Park.
The new road will create a direct link between three administrative districts of Yerevan (Malatia-Sebastia, Downtown, and Shengavit), aiding in the redistribution of traffic.
Initially, construction was planned to start in 2023, but delays caused by bureaucratic issues related to land acquisition and the relocation of residents from the construction site areas have pushed back the timeline.-0-
