YEREVAN, June 3. /ARKA/. Periodic power outages in the small center of Yerevan will soon end, said Hayk Kostanyan, press secretary of the capital's administration, at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) company is currently implementing a large-scale network modernization program, which covers 111 central streets. "Upon its completion, power outages in the small center will cease," Kostanyan assured. He added that ENA is also carrying out work to re-equip electrical substations.

Earlier, ENA announced plans to invest about 6.7 billion drams in a program to modernize the power supply network in the center of Yerevan over the course of 2-3 years. As a result, 145 thousand subscribers will be provided with uninterrupted power supply, of which 5 thousand are public.

Kostanyan also spoke about the programs in the field of gas supply and water supply (sewage) in Yerevan.

According to the information he provided, Gazprom Armenia CJSC is building a new gas pipeline network with a length of 25 km.

As for the water supply system operator, Kostanyan noted that Veolia Djur has already begun modernizing the water supply network (drinking water) for about 72 km.

"The main work will be carried out in our own sector, water outages in private areas will gradually decrease. Water losses will also be reduced and the water supply schedule will be streamlined," Kostanyan added.
