YEREVAN, February 10. /ARKA/. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance announced in Yerevan phased investments of $9 billion as part of civil nuclear energy cooperation with Armenia.
"We are proud to announce that our countries have completed negotiations on the '1, 2, 3' agreement in the field of civil nuclear energy. Once this process is underway, it will pave the way for programs by American and Armenian companies. We are talking about initial projects worth approximately $5 billion, with a second phase of investments totaling an additional $4 billion. This is a win-win situation for both Armenia and my country – in terms of energy security and energy sustainability, and it will also create numerous jobs in both the United States and Armenia," he said during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Noting that the project concerned small modular reactors, the US Vice President explained that it was about bringing American technology to Armenia.
"This is a rare instance where our country feels confident enough to export specific technologies to another country," he emphasized.
