YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The unemployment rate in Armenia for the third quarter of 2025 was 11.8%, down from 13.3% for the same period in 2024. This was announced by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

At the end of December 2024, the Armenian government approved the Employment Strategy for 2025-2031, the main goal of which is to combat unemployment. As then-Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan noted, research shows that a portion of the potentially employable population is uncompetitive and lacks the skills necessary to meet the needs of the modern labor market.

The strategy's target group includes residents of regional cities, young people who are not studying or working, women aged 30-39, and recipients of family and social benefits.

As previously stated by Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, the authorities plan to reduce the unemployment rate to less than 10%.
