YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. The situation on the Armenian-Iranian border is under control; there are currently no significant problems at the Agarak checkpoint, stated Eduard Hakobyan, head of State Revenue Committee.
"We monitor the dynamics of both the movement of people and cargo on a daily basis. The indicators remain approximately at the same level as before," Hakobyan noted, commenting on the situation around Iran and its impact on the Armenian-Iranian border at a briefing on Wednesday.
Regarding potential difficulties, he explained that the problems are primarily related to logistics in the neighboring country.
"Sometimes there are queues, and we also receive information from businesses about logistical problems in Iran. That is, the problems are mostly there," Hakobyan said.
According to him, no serious risks have arisen yet in terms of border crossing statistics. "The border and the checkpoint—the customs zone—are operating normally, without any significant problems," he stated.
On February 28, the US and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran, to which the Islamic Republic responded with a series of massive attacks. The conflict escalated into a full-scale war.
