YEREVAN, December 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan denied rumors that the Armenian government plans to raise the retirement age.
"Certain circles, under special hybrid attacks, are trying to sow fear and anxiety among our people, claiming that we are trying to raise the retirement age, and quoting the Prime Minister's words from the National Assembly: 'What kind of age is 63 or 65?'... A person can work at this age, engage in entrepreneurship, create a product, and this is truly true, because modern science and medicine allow us to live much longer, stay healthy much longer, and, yes, also work," Torosyan stated in a Facebook live broadcast on Monday.
According to him, today in Armenia, tens, if not hundreds of thousands of citizens "at this age are working, are happy to work, and will continue to work for many years to come."
In Armenia, the retirement age for both men and women is 63.
