Armenia’s State Revenue Committee has set up a task force to assess the share of the so-called shadow economy in all economic sectors.
YEREVAN, August 23. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Revenue Committee has set up a task force to assess the share of the so-called shadow economy in all economic sectors. The head of the agency, David Ananyan, told reporters today that it is the first such initiative in the country.
He declined to provide his own assessment , saying at least one or two months are necessary to conduct the study - especially that it is going to be the first such measure.
"We are just discussing the methodology for assessing the shadow economy extent by economy sectors, after which we will have to determine the sources of information, then the available data will be processed. Only after that we will be able to talk by figures," Ananyan said.
According to him, the task force will assess the shadow economy in 20 sectors . According to various estimates, the shadow economy in Armenia is about 30% of GDP. --0--
