Pashinyan highlights new government’s challenges
YEREVAN, December 13, /ARKA/. Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted today the challenges, which his government will have to deal with after his alliance My Step won the early elections to the National Assembly on December 9.

Speaking at a Cabinet session he said there are grounds to expect increasing investments in the country’s economy. ‘I would like to draw the attention of all government officials towards this issue and urge them not to create obstacles for potential investors,” said Pashinyan.

"In the near future, we will have to work on stimulating investments. For potential investors, municipal and central authorities must create favorable conditions so that their intentions translate into real investments," he said.

Pashinyan called also for the development of the military-industrial complex. "We must be able to ensure substantial growth in this area. I tie the solution to this problem with our vision of Armenia as a technological country and the development of engineering, which, of course, is one of the tasks for the near future," he said.

"Over the next five years, we must invest an additional $2.5 billion in the development of the armed forces. Efforts must be made to find that money. Part of it will be spent on improving the social conditions of servicemen," he said.

“We have a lot of work to do in the educational sphere, which needs to be raised to higher level. We have to reform also our medicine,” he said. He said the main challenge of the government should be a significant improvement of the living conditions of the people. "One of the key points of our program is the eradication of extreme poverty and a real reduction in the level of poverty," said Pashinyan. -0-
