There will be no changes to the water supply schedule in Armenia as a result of government intervention, stated Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
YEREVAN, February 26. /ARKA/. There will be no changes to the water supply schedule in Armenia as a result of government intervention, stated Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
Earlier, the Armenian water supply operator, "Veolia Jur" CJSC, announced the transition to a 17-hour water supply schedule for some consumers in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia from May 1 to September 16 of this year.
Khudatyan wrote on his Facebook page that the schedule published several days ago by "Veolia Jur" and its contents "were deemed controversial not only by many of you but also by the government, and therefore a meeting was promptly convened with the participation of all interested entities."
"A discussion took place, following which a decision was made to suspend the schedule," the minister noted.
According to him, the Water Committee, the Public Services Regulatory Commission, and "Veolia Jur" have been tasked with conducting additional studies within the next two weeks, following which an adjusted and optimized water supply schedule for 2024 and 2025 will be published.
"This decision was based on major construction projects, the volume of which has tripled in recent years both in Yerevan and the regions. Work is ongoing to modernize the existing infrastructure and increase the volume of water supplied to Yerevan from newly identified water sources," Khudatyan said.
According to the schedule published on the Veolia Jur website, from May 1 to September 16, 2026, drinking water will be supplied to certain customers in 12 districts of Yerevan and all regions of Armenia from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (17 hours per day). Their addresses are listed on the website.
