In Armenia, the birth rate decreased by 4.8% and the death rate by 0.03% from January to October 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. In Armenia, the birth rate decreased by 4.8% and the death rate by 0.03% from January to October 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. This is evidenced by data published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia (Armstat).
Birth Rate
A decline in the birth rate has been recorded in Armenia since January of last year.
It is noted that 26,768 babies were born during the reporting period, while 28,109 were born in the first 10 months of 2024.
Moreover, 332 stillbirths were registered during this period, which is 12.6% less than in the same period in 2024.
Thus, the vitality index—the ratio of births to deaths—was 127% in January-October of this year, compared to 133.3% for the same period last year.
Mortality
More than half of the population (51.3%, or 10,818 people) died due to circulatory diseases, a 3.2% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
Neoplasms are the second leading cause of death (20%, or 4,216 people, a 3.9% decrease). Other causes of death included respiratory diseases (10.2% or 2,145 people, an increase of 9.4%), diseases of the digestive system (4.7% or 1,006 people, a decrease of 7.6%), external causes (3.8% or 795 people, a decrease of 8.4%), diseases of the endocrine system (2.1% or 438 people, an increase of 20.3%), and infectious diseases (1.4% or 288 people, an increase of 40.5%).
