Gross production in Armenia's agro-, forestry and fishery sectors exceeds AMD 1 trillion in 2023
YEREVAN, February 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors in 2023 showed no growth compared to the previous year, producing a total of products worth just over AMD 1 trillion, the National Statistical Committee reported.
Specifically, agriculture decreased by 0.3% to AMD 948 billion with livestock production falling by 3.4% to AMD 500.5 billion, while crop production grew by 2.7% to AMD 447.6 billion.
In 2023, some 175,700 tons of farm animal and poultry meat (live weight) were sold, down 3.48% from 2022, while 590,900 tons of milk (down 5.2%) and 732.2 million eggs (down 2.3%) were produced.
In addition, 290,600 tons of cereals and legumes (up 20.1%), 364,500 tons of potatoes (up 3.7%), 607,400 tons of vegetables (down 0.5%), 116,700 tons of melon (down 6.3%), 361,200 tons of fruits and berries (up 4.3%) and 213,400 tons of grapes (down 5.5%) were produced last year.
Forestry sector output totaled about AMD 2.7 billion (up 22.3%) and fisheries output increased 3.6% to AMD 55 billion. ($1 - AMD 404.24) -0-.
