Food prices in Armenia down 7.4% in February 2024

YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. Prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages in February 2024 decreased in Armenia by 7.4% from February 2023, the National Statistical Committee said.

According to it, buckwheat price in February 2024 was down 24% year-on-year, pasta - by 11.6%, bread - by 7.8%, wheat groats - by 7.6%, rice - by 3.2%, flour - by 17.4%, peas - by 14.8% and lentils - by 12.9%.

In February, the annualized price of pork was down by 6.9%, that of beef - by 1.7%, poultry meant price was down 1.4%, and that of mutton - by 1.3%. Fish and seafood prices in February 2024 to February 2023 were down 7.1%,.

Cheese fell in price by 7.6% year on year, fresh milk rose by 2.4% and eggs by 3.2% year on year. Margarine fell in price by 25%, butter by 7.3% and sunflower oil by 27.7%. Fruits in February fell in price by 4.5% over the year and vegetables by 19.3%.

Sugar fell in price by 5.6%, chocolate decreased in price by 6%. Coffee, tea and cocoa in February this year compared to February last year rose in price by 0.7%. Prices for mineral water, as well as bottled drinking water in February rose by 1.9% year-on-year.

In February, the price of vodka rose by 9.6%, that of wine - by 0.6% and that of beer - by 4.5%. Tobacco products increased in price by 8.3% year-on-year.

Consumer price index in February was down 1.7% compared to February 2023. -0-
