Food prices in Armenia increased by 7.8% year-on-year and 1.8% month-on-month in March

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 7.8% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and by 1.8% month-on-month, according to a report by the Statistical Committee.
YEREVAN, April 3. /ARKA/. Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices increased by 7.8% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and by 1.8% month-on-month, according to a report by the Statistical Committee.
Bread and cereal prices increased by 3.6% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month in March. Rice prices fell by 2.6% year-on-year and increased by 0.1% month-on-month in March. Wheat groats increased in price by 8.5% and 1.5%, respectively, buckwheat by 10.1%, with a 0.1% month-on-month decline, flour by 5.5%, with a 0.1% month-on-month decline, bread by 3%, with a 0.1% month-on-month increase, and pasta by 9.4% and 1.2%, respectively. Lobster prices fell by 0.1% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month, lentils by 1.6%, but increased by 0.9% compared to February, and peas increased by 3% year-on-year and 0.5% month-on-month.
Meat prices in March increased by 9.4% year-on-year and 0.8% month-on-month. Beef prices increased by 15.1% year-on-year and 2.2% month-on-month, pork by 12% with a 0.5% month-on-month decline, mutton and lamb by 13.8% and 0.4%, respectively, and poultry (chicken) by 5.1% with a 0.2% month-on-month decline.
Fish and seafood prices increased by 5.6% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and decreased by 0.5% compared to February of this year. Fresh trout prices increased by 3% year-on-year during the reporting period, and decreased by 0.7% month-on-month.
Prices in the "Dairy Products, Cheese, and Eggs" category increased by 12.8% year-on-year in March, and by 1.9% month-on-month. At the same time, cheese prices increased by 8.1% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month, while eggs rose by 30.1% and 7.1%, respectively.
Products in the "Oils and Fats" group increased in price in March by 7.5% year-on-year and 0.1% month-on-month. Meanwhile, butter increased in price by 8.2%, up 0.8% month-on-month, and sunflower oil by 9.5%, down 0.5% month-on-month.
Fruit prices increased by 5.6% year-on-year and 3.9% month-on-month in March. In the "Vegetables" group, prices in March increased by 3.1% year-on-year and 5.7% month-on-month. In the "Sugar, Fruit Puree, Honey, Syrups, Chocolate, and Sugar Confectionery" category, prices increased 6.8% year-on-year in March and 0.3% month-on-month. Sugar and granulated sugar increased in price by 2.8% year-on-year but fell 1.4% month-on-month, while chocolate increased in price by 10.1% year-on-year and 1.8% month-on-month.
In the "Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa" category, prices increased by 7.7% year-on-year in March of this year and by 0.1% month-on-month compared to February of this year. Coffee increased in price by 7.9% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month, while cocoa increased by 28.3% and 0.5%, respectively.
Prices for mineral or spring water, as well as bottled drinking water, increased by 4.9% year-on-year in March and remained unchanged month-on-month. Among alcoholic beverages, vodka increased in price in March by 9.2% year-on-year and by 1.3% month-on-month, beer by 3.6% and 0.4%, respectively. Wine increased in price by 0.5% year-on-year but fell by 0.8% compared to February, and beer increased in price by 3.6% and 0.4%, respectively.
Tobacco prices increased in March by 9.7% year-on-year and by 0.4% month-on-month.
Food products not included in other groups increased in price by 3.4% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and by 0.3% compared to February of this year. Moreover, according to statistics, prices in the non-food market increased by 0.8% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and by 0.1% compared to February of this year.
In Armenia, inflation was recorded at 4.5% in March 2026 compared to March 2025, and at 0.7% for the month.
