Electricity generation in Armenia increased by almost 17% in January-September
YEREVAN, November 8. /ARKA/. Armenia generated about 5.6 billion kWh of electricity in the first nine months of 2022, which is 16.9% more than in the first 9 months of 2021, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.
It said thermal power plants accounted for 55.4% of the total electricity production or over 2.4 billion kWh, a 13.9% increase from the same time span of 2021.
Hydropower plants produced over 1.8 billion kWh, which is 23.3% of the total. The figure is 12.7% down from the year before. The nuclear power plant accounted for 18.3% or over 1.2 billion kWh, a 58.3% increase.
Other generating facilities accounted for 3% of total generation. Wind power plants produced 0.9 million kWh of electricity (50.4% growth), while solar power plants produced 68.3 million kWh (2.7 times growth). -0-
