YEREVAN, February 27. /АРКА/. The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission granted Armenia a tariff concession for the import of raw cane sugar in 2026 in the amount of no more than 20 thousand. tons.
As reported in EEC, the benefit provides exemption from import customs duty on raw sugar intended for industrial processing. The measure will be in effect during 2026.
EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev noted that the decision is aimed at ensuring a stable supply of sugar and sugar-containing products in the domestic market, preventing deficits and maintaining employment at processing enterprises.
According to the message, white sugar produced from raw materials imported with preferential treatment is not subject to export to other states of the Eurasian Economic Union.
