Economic activity in Armenia grew by 7.6% in January 2026

According to preliminary data, Armenia's economic activity index (EVI) registered a 7.6% increase in January 2026 compared to January 2025, the Statistical Committee reports.

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. According to preliminary data, Armenia's economic activity index (EVI) registered a 7.6% increase in January 2026 compared to January 2025, the Statistical Committee reports.

However, in the reporting month, the EVI decreased by 48.3% compared to December 2025.

Year-on-year growth was recorded in all economic sectors covered in the report for January of this year.

Industrial production volume amounted to 229,540.6 million drams during the reporting month, an increase of 10.6% compared to January 2025. However, compared to December 2025, a decline of 56.7% was recorded. Construction volume in January 2026 increased by 18.7% compared to January 2025, reaching AMD 22,262.0 million.

Compared to December of the previous year, this figure decreased by 86.6%.

Domestic trade turnover in January 2026 reached AMD 414,744.5 million, a 0.7% increase compared to the same period last year. This figure decreased by 50.9% compared to December 2025.

The service sector (excluding trade) reached AMD 317,991.5 million in January of this year, a 7.4% increase compared to the first month of 2025. Compared to December, service volume decreased by 21.6%.

Armenian Economic Figures and Forecasts

Armenia's economic growth is projected at 5.4% in the 2026 state budget. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the fourth quarter of last year, Armenia's GDP growth is expected to be 6.3-4.1% by the end of 2026, depending on scenarios (A-B), and 4.9-5.3% in 2027.
