Economic activity in Armenia grew by 7.4% in the first two months of 2026

According to preliminary data, Armenia's economic activity index (EVI) in January-February 2026 registered a 7.4% increase compared to the first two months of 2025, the Statistical Committee of the Republic reports.

YEREVAN, March 25. /ARKA/. According to preliminary data, Armenia's economic activity index (EVI) in January-February 2026 registered a 7.4% increase compared to the first two months of 2025, the Statistical Committee of the Republic reports.

Moreover, in February of this year, EVI increased by 7.2% compared to February of last year, and by 4.5% compared to January of this year.

In January-February, industrial output amounted to 491,479.4 million drams, an increase of 17.2% compared to January-February 2025. In February, the year-on-year growth was 23.8%, and the month-on-month growth was 12.2%. Construction volume in the first two months of this year increased by 20.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 53,953.7 million drams. In February, year-on-year growth was 21.8%, while month-on-month growth was 40.7%.

Domestic trade turnover for January-February of this year amounted to 892,247.1 million drams, 3.3% higher than the same period last year. In February, year-on-year growth was 5.6%, while month-on-month growth was 14.4%.

The volume of the service sector (excluding trade) reached 630,310.5 million drams in January-February 2026, 7.2% higher than the same period in 2025. In February, year-on-year growth was 7%, while month-on-month growth was 1.7%. Armenian Economic Figures and Forecasts

The 2026 state budget projects 5.4% economic growth for Armenia. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the first quarter of this year, GDP growth is expected to be 7.1-4.7% by the end of 2026, 5.7-5.3% in 2027, and 4.9-5.2% in 2028, depending on scenarios (A-B).

International financial institutions' forecasts for Armenia's economic growth for 2026 include: EDB - 5.3%; WB - 4.9%; IMF - 5.5%; EBRD - 5.5%; S&P Global Ratings - 5.3%; Fitch Ratings - above 5% (for 2026-2027).
