Cargo transportation in Armenia upped by 1.6% over first three quarters, while passenger transportation dropped by 2.4%

The total volume of cargo transportation in Armenia from January to September 2025 reached 12,263.3 thousand tons (over 12.3 million tons), reflecting a 1.6% rise compared to the same period in 2024.

YEREVAN, November 10. /ARKA/. The total volume of cargo transportation in Armenia from January to September 2025 reached 12,263.3 thousand tons (over 12.3 million tons), reflecting a 1.6% rise compared to the same period in 2024.

The total number of passengers transported was 173,195.3 thousand, marking a 2.4% decrease, as reported by the Statistical Committee.

In the first three quarters of the current year, 79.1%, or 9,701.3 thousand tons, of the total freight was moved by road transport, which is a 0.5% increase from the previous year.

Main pipeline transport accounted for 10.8%, or 1,325.9 thousand tons, showing a 1.8% decrease, while rail transport contributed 9.9%, or 1,207.2 thousand tons, with a significant 15.7% increase. Air transport made up 0.2%, or 28.9 thousand tons, reflecting a 3.2% increase.

In the first nine months of 2025, 84.9%, or 147,088.7 thousand people, of the total passenger transportation utilized road transport (unchanged), while 12.4%, or 21,376.0 thousand people, used electric transport (a decrease of 16.7%).

Air transport accounted for 2.5%, or 4,337.3 thousand people, which is an increase of 4.6%, and rail transport represented 0.2%, or 393.3 thousand people, showing a decline of 9.9%.

Throughout the first three quarters of this year, Armenia recorded 3,547 road accidents, which is a 15.9% increase compared to the same timeframe last year. There were 199 fatalities in these accidents (an 18.1% decrease), and 5,243 individuals sustained injuries (a 19.5% increase).

For the first nine months of 2025, revenue generated from postal and courier services in Armenia totaled AMD 15,333.0 million, reflecting a 3.3% increase compared to the first nine months of 2024 ($1 = AMD 382.61).-0-
