Automated e-gate systems will be introduced at Armenian border checkpoints

YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced plans to introduce automated e-gate systems (electronic checkpoints) at Armenian border checkpoints, coinciding with the rollout of biometric passports.

The e-gate system is a contactless and automated method for crossing borders, enabling swift border control through passport scanning without the need for a border guard's intervention. This system will facilitate quick identification of travelers, enhance the efficiency of border control, and minimize waiting times.

Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan, accompanied by Deputy Director of the National Security Service David Sanamyan, visited Zvartnots Airport yesterday to review the preparatory measures for the system's rollout.

During the visit, the Minister was briefed on the necessary infrastructure solutions for the deployment, initiation, and upkeep of the e-gate systems.

On the same day, Sargsyan also assessed the construction progress and technical setup of the Migration and Citizenship Service office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is nearing completion and is situated in a shopping center in Yerevan.

The importance of adhering to construction quality standards and meeting deadlines was highlighted.

The design and logistical strategies for the offices, developed by HayPass, follow the 'single-window' approach, aimed at reducing queues, minimizing crowding, and simplifying administrative processes, ultimately saving citizens valuable time.-0-
