Armenian State Revenue Committee seeks to increase 10 times state duty on exported excisable goods

YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs has approved today a draft law designed by the State Revenue Committee that calls for raising the rates of state duties on exported excisable goods by 10 times.

"The proposed changes are prompted by the need to meet the requirements of the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). The state duty is charged for the provision of relevant services by customs authorities at the border. This includes filling in declarations, storage of cargo, etc. Previously, these deductions were made as part of customs payments. However, at present they are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the law On State Duty, said Artur Manukyan, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee.

According to him, the purpose of the draft law is to establish differentiated rates of state duty, in particular, for inspection and registration of goods of certain categories.

Now business entities pay one thousand drams for goods weighing up to 1 ton and 300 drams for each next ton. The draft law proposes to increase the rates for excisable goods exported to the EEU countries and for goods imported from the member states.

"Cargoes up to 1 ton will be subject to about 10,000 drams state duty. And for every next ton - in the amount of one basic state duty, or 1 thousand drams," Manukyan explained. ($1 - 401.63 drams). --0--
