Armenia's overall state debt rises to $11.9 billion
YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. Armenia's overall state debt as of January 31, 2024, totaled a little over $11.9 billion, increasing by $68.7 million from December 31, 2023, when it stood at over $11.8 billion, according to the National Statistical Committee.
In AMD terms, as of January 31, 2024, the state debt stood at over 4.8 trillion, having increased by AMD 17.9 billion from December 2023.
Of the total state debt over $6.4 billion was the external debt (a decrease of $40.6 mln from December 2023), while the domestic debt increased by over $109.3 mln to over $5.4 billion.
In AMD equivalent, the external debt decreased by 21.8 billion to 2.6 trillion, while the domestic debt increased by 39.7 billion to 2.2 trillion.
The government debt decreased by $30 million to over $5.9 billion by the end of January 2024. In AMD equivalent, the government debt decreased by 17 billion drams to about 2.4 trillion.
The debt of the Central Bank decreased by $10.6 million to $540.1 million. In AMD equivalent, it decreased by 4.7 billion to 218.2 billion.
Of the domestic debt, over $4.9 billion (up $110.511 million) were owed to resident holders of government treasury bonds. Another $515.4 million were owed to resident holders of Eurobonds (down $1.100 million from December 2023). Internal guarantees of the government stood at $17.671 million (down by $0.067 million). -0-
