YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's manufacturing industry grew by 12% last year with GDP contribution of 12.1%, which made it the leading economic sector, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today in a Facebook post
According to Pashinyan, the manufacturing industry does not include the mining sector. In addition, according to Pashinyan, exports of goods and services increased by 10.3%.
Pashinyan specified that the exports of mid-tech goods increased by 26.9%, and the export of high-tech goods by 13.5%. According to Pashinyan, the tourism industry, which is also considered as an export product because foreign citizens use it, grew by 14.7%.
The fastest growing sector of the Armenian economy last year was the accommodation and other services, which surged by 27.2%.
The Prime Minister recalled that when he took office, he made public his vision that Armenia should become a high-tech, industrial country with an export-oriented economy. According to official figures, Armenian economy grew last year by 7.8 percent. -0-
