Armenia has 130 small hydropower plants with 204 mw total capacity

There are 130 small hydropower plants with total capacity of 204 MW in Armenia as of July 1, 2012, said the head of Licensed Operation and Investment Programs Division at Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission Abgar Budagyan.
YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. There are 130 small hydropower plants with total capacity of 204 MW in Armenia as of July 1, 2012, said the head of Licensed Operation and Investment Programs Division at Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission Abgar Budagyan.
These plants produce 656 million kWh annually, according to him.
“Other 75 hydropower plants with 161 MW capacity and producing 564 kWh are in the process of construction,” Budagyan noted.
After these 73 small hydropower plants are built, the total capacity of all 203 plants will be 365 MW with an annual 1.2 billion kWh power production, he noted.
Budagyan also said the highest number of small hydropower plants in Armenia are located in Syunik region, where as of July 1, 2012, there are 31 plants operating, and 22 new ones are being constructed.
Syunik is followed by Lori ( 21 operating plants, 14 are in the process of construction) and Vayots Dzor regions ( 17 operating, 15 –being built).--0--
