YEREVAN, June 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian Food Safety Inspectorate will tighten controls on fish products and raw materials used to restore trust in Armenian products in the EAEU market, announced Tigran Petrosyan, head of the agency.

Petrosyan held a meeting with Armenian fish farmers and fish producers to discuss the situation in the industry, the suspension of fish exports to Russia, and export prospects.

According to Petrosyan, the agency is taking all possible steps to resolve the issue of the suspension of exports to Russia. He also emphasized that safety and hygiene requirements cannot be ignored.

He announced that samples of all batches of fish products submitted for export will be sent for laboratory testing for microbiological indicators, the presence of diseases, and residual levels of prohibited substances.

Petrosyan noted that the inspection body intends to tighten internal controls over both finished products and raw materials.

"Producers who continue to demonstrate negligence and jeopardize the development of the entire industry and its export potential will be deprived of export rights. The entire industry should not suffer because of one company," he warned.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of exporting fish products to the EU market. The agency noted that the EU market is open to Armenian fish products, provided they fully comply with European standards.

Producers were reminded of the need to maintain a smoothly functioning Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system, as well as to ensure transparency and traceability throughout the entire production chain—from fish feed and water quality to finished products.

The inspection body expressed its readiness to provide advisory support to producers. Agency specialists are prepared to visit farms, conduct audits, and highlight any deficiencies that hinder exports.
