YEREVAN, March 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's spending on weapons and military equipment in 2022-2025 exceeded similar figures for the previous 20 years by 5.4 times, stated Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.

"From 1998 to 2018, during the two decades of rule by two presidents, defense spending, including the purchase of weapons and military equipment, was 5.4 times lower than in the period from 2022 to 2025," Papikyan said during government hour in parliament on Wednesday.

He emphasized, however, that this refers exclusively to spending on the acquisition of weapons and military equipment.

Papikyan previously stated that Armenia's defense spending has increased by approximately $1.1 billion over the past seven years (from 245 billion drams in 2018 to 664 billion drams (approximately $1.74 billion) in 2025).
