YEREVAN, March 6. /ARKA/. Armenia's agricultural sector has experienced a 10% decline over the past eight years, stated Narek Karapetyan, Vice President of ‘’Tashir Group’’ and coordinator of the "Mer dzevov" movement.
He also touched on the risks currently facing the agricultural sector.
He named water supply, irrigation of farmland, lending, and providing farms with agricultural machinery as key challenges.
Karapetyan noted that only $1.4 billion worth of agricultural products are exported to Armenia annually, the majority of which—approximately $1 billion—could be produced domestically.
"This affects the employment of up to 100,000 citizens," Karapetyan said at a briefing on Friday.
According to Armstat, agricultural production in 2025 increased by 5.6% compared to 2024, reaching 1.06 trillion drams. Crop production reached 539.9 billion drams (up 9.7%), while livestock production reached 517.3 billion drams (up 1.8%).
