YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. The concept of an arts cluster for Academic Town, in collaboration with two leading European universities, will be developed in Armenia for over 700,000 pounds sterling, stated RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan.

"Cooperation is being established in this area with the most reputable universities, which are assisting in the development and implementation of the arts cluster concept. To this end, negotiations have been held and agreements are planned with two universities – the University of the Arts London and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland," Andreasyan noted at a government meeting on Thursday.

The minister announced that the contract with the University of the Arts London will be worth up to 368,700 pounds sterling, and with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – up to 371,300 pounds sterling.

She noted that working with these two universities will enable the arts cluster to provide content that meets the highest standards and ensure the competitiveness of education for both Armenian and international students.

"Cooperation with the universities is planned, in particular, in the development of the cluster concept and the development of academic and creative abilities," Andreasyan said.

The minister added that work has been completed with the Technical University of Munich to create a technology cluster, the first stage of which has been completed, and negotiations are currently underway with the University of Cambridge to establish a classical cluster.

Previously, Andreasyan announced that Academic Town will begin operating in Armenia in 2030.

Two sites are envisaged for the creation of Academic Town: the area adjacent to the 14th quarter of the capital's Ajapnyak district and the Armenfilm film studio named after Amo Beknazaryan. It is planned to house 16 universities there – eight public and eight private or international. It will have four clusters: arts, education, technology and military.
