YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Armenia has not imposed any restrictions on the use of its airspace for any country, including Azerbaijani civil aircraft, the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia reported on Facebook.
The committee noted that unfounded speculation and misinformation surrounding the use of Armenian airspace and transit flights through it have recently been spreading.
"We declare that, guided by the provisions of Article 9, subparagraph b, of the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, according to which no member state of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) may discriminate in the use of its airspace, the Republic of Armenia has not imposed any restrictions on the use of its airspace for any country, including Azerbaijani civil aircraft," the statement reads.
The Committee stated that, in accordance with Armenian legislation and internationally accepted procedures, every international commercial transit flight through the country's airspace is carried out based on a flight plan submitted by the airline.
At the same time, the Committee noted, no agreements between ICAO member states are required for such flights.
The Committee also emphasized that if any restrictions on the use of Armenian airspace are imposed, information about them is published in the prescribed manner via NOTAMs.
Furthermore, information about every international transit flight through Armenian airspace is transmitted by the civil aviation air traffic services authority to the relevant agencies of the country.
