Armenia approves export stimulation strategy for 2025-2030: about 100 billion drams to be released for its implementation

YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved the export stimulation strategy for 2025-2030 and the action plan at a meeting on Thursday.

As Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated, the strategy will be of key importance for the implementation of the country's long-term economic development vision.

"Export stimulation is enshrined in the government's 2021-2026 program as the most important tool and support for economic growth. Steps are being taken to form an export structure that ensures sustainable growth based on high added value, technological progress, and increased competitiveness of the quality of goods and services," Papoyan noted.

According to him, significant growth in exports has been recorded in recent years. However, this growth is mainly due to external and often temporary factors and does not reflect the full export potential of the economy.

“At the same time, the high degree of centralization of export markets continues to be and remains a significant challenge for our economy, limiting our ability to strengthen our positions in global markets. This strategy also responds to the main problems faced by local producers at various stages of the export chain, ranging from market accessibility to infrastructures, the quality of which is not always satisfactory,” Papoyan said.

The minister stated that the goal is to formulate a policy that will create a predictable support environment for the smooth and full-scale organization of export processes.

“The strategy consists of 5 strategic pillars and more than 50 activities. The strategic goals are to ensure a competitive environment conducive to exports, develop infrastructures and ensure logistical accessibility, develop exporters and their capabilities, expand export markets, stimulate and finance exports,” Papoyan emphasized.

The Minister reported that as a result of the program's implementation, it is planned to record an increase in local exports by almost 1.7 times ($16.9 billion), the export of services is projected to reach $10.3 billion, goods and local exports - $6.6 billion annually.

"It is planned to allocate about 98 billion drams (more than $250 million) for the implementation of the program," Papoyan noted.
