YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Arman Khojoyan discussed the new strategic program of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) for Armenia for 2026-2030 with a delegation led by Marco Cavalcante, Director of WFP Global Projects.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, the program includes activities related to the nationalization of the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and its transfer to the Armenian government, including the development of a roadmap for beneficiaries and transition projects for government agencies.
Khojoyan praised the WFP's activities in Armenia and emphasized the importance of implementing the program in terms of ensuring food security and addressing humanitarian challenges.
Poverty reduction in communities and increasing the resilience of food systems were also discussed during the meeting.
About the Program
The program aims to strengthen food security and the resilience of food systems in Armenia, gradually transitioning from direct assistance to a consultative and partnering role for the government, transferring food system management tools to national institutions, providing crisis support, reducing poverty, and increasing the resilience of communities and the food system to various risks (conflicts, climate change).
As a result, Armenia will be able to independently ensure food security and address humanitarian challenges by 2030.
