Armenia and Germany discuss prospects for developing trade and economic relations

A meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Financial and Technical Cooperation between Armenia and Germany was held yesterday in Berlin, co-chaired by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation Niels Annen.

YEREVAN, October 31. /ARКА/. A meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Financial and Technical Cooperation between Armenia and Germany was held yesterday in Berlin, co-chaired by RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation Niels Annen.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, discussions focused on the potential for enhancing bilateral trade and economic relations, particularly in sectors such as trade, investment, import and export, development of micro and medium-sized enterprises, renewable energy, sustainable urban development, water resource management, agriculture, high technology, tourism, and other fields.

"In recent years, Germany has emerged as one of Armenia's most reliable partners, both bilaterally and within the broader Armenia-EU framework," Papoyan remarked, highlighting Germany's backing of Armenia's reforms, sustainable development initiatives, promotion of a green economy, and social integration efforts.

As reported by Armstat, Armenia's trade with Germany for the first eight months of 2025 reached $297.3 million, reflecting a 5.3% decrease. Exports, however, increased by 77.4% to $71.4 million, while imports fell by 17.4%, totaling $225.9 million.
