Almost $9 million will be allocated for construction and equipping 300 schools and 500 kindergartens in Armenia

More than 3.4 billion drams (almost $8.9 million) will be allocated for construction, equipping and repair of 300 schools and 500 kindergartens in Armenia, said Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
YEREVAN, July 17. /ARKA/. More than 3.4 billion drams (almost $8.9 million) will be allocated for construction, equipping and repair of 300 schools and 500 kindergartens in Armenia, said Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
The financing was approved on Thursday at a meeting of the government by redistributing some points of the state budget.
“Within the framework of the project, about 2 billion drams of the redistributed amount are planned to be allocated for the construction of schools (1.3 billion drams) and educational complexes (the remaining 700 million drams),” Andreasyan noted at a government meeting on Thursday.
She added that 120.6 million drams will be allocated to provide 61 kindergartens with equipment.
“Another 545 million drams are planned to be allocated to service additional financing of the education improvement program, taking into account exchange rate fluctuations,” Andreasyan said.
The minister said that 1 billion 512 million drams will be spent on the construction and completion of a number of kindergartens in a number of communities.
This program was launched in 2021 and is scheduled to last until 2026. As of April 2025, about 452 billion drams ($1 - 383.74 drams) have already been spent on its implementation.-0-
