YEREVAN, November 9. /ARKA/. Changes in the gross domestic product’s structure make Armenia’s economy more competitive, diversified and less vulnerable to crises, Gagik Minasyan, chairman of the National Assembly’s financial and budgetary committee, said Wednesday at a news conference.
“Armenia’s 2012 draft government budget has undergone stress tests, and we believe it is able to stand mid-gravity crises,” he said.
Economic growth is projected at 4.2% in the 2012 draft government budget.
Minasyan said that industry would keep propelling economic growth in Armenia also in 2012, while before that economic growth had mainly been propelled by construction.
“The steps being taken now give ground for thinking that our economy will grow faster than before,” he said.
Among these steps, the lawmaker singled out preferential regime on VAT payment that implies adjournment, which has already creates thousands of jobs.
Minasyan also pointed out fast growth export-oriented segments of the economy.
“Our agriculture shows 2% growth, compared with 2008, industry shows 3% growth and services area 5% growth,” he said.--0--
