YEREVAN, November 4. / ARKA /. International donor organizations and the Armenian government signed a letter of intent on Friday to improve economic management in Armenia by using the "regulatory guillotine", the press service of the government told ARKA.

It said the document was signed by the chief of the government administration David Sargsyan, head of USAID Yerevan office, Dr. Jatinder Chima, the acting head of OSCE office in Yerevan Karel Hofstra, head of World Bank Armenian office, Jean-Michel Happi, the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Dafina Gercheva. Among the international donor organizations that have signed the document, is also the Austrian Development Agency.

According to the document, the organizations express readiness to assist Armenia in the implementation of quick reforms by using the "regulatory guillotine" tool that will enable Armenia to update its regulatory policies and to significantly improve the business environment by helping reduce bureaucracy and improve governance.

In September 2011 president Sargsyan decreed to create the Council to reform the legal acts regulating the sphere of economy, and to coordinate activities to enhance the effectiveness of state regulation of economic activity.

The Council will seek to eliminate provisions that impede the development of the market economy environment, to simplify and improve the quality of services provided to citizens by the state, improve legislation in this area, as well as develop proposals to reduce inappropriate and economically inefficient arrangements and expenses. -0-
