Dynamics of the decline in exports and imports in Armenia will last throughout the first half of the year – EDB
YEREVAN, March 13. /ARKA/. The decline in the value of exports and imports in Armenia in January by 49.2% year-on-year (y/y) and 33.5% y/y, respectively, was due to the fact that the positive impact of foreign trade in precious metals had been exhausted. This is stated in the macro review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) for March 2025.
"We expect this trend to continue throughout the first half of 2025. Without the impact of the precious metals trade factor, import volumes in January grew by 4% y/y, while exports decreased by 14.4% y/y," the study states. According to Armstat, Armenia's foreign trade turnover in January this year decreased by 40% compared to January of last year, amounting to $1.4 billion. Exports for the reporting month fell by 49.2%, to $482.2 million, while imports decreased by 33.5%, totaling $895.1 million.
