YEREVAN, July 24. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government decided to allocate 729 million drams (more than $1.89 million) to the Ministry of Health to provide medicines to citizens suffering from serious illnesses.

“In 2024, this list included citizens suffering from multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, mental disorders, and primary immunodeficiency. As a result of the implementation of this program, the health of many citizens has improved,” Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said at a government meeting.

Avanesyan said that among the important points of the program is the replacement of glucometers for children suffering from diabetes with more modern ones.

“New technological solutions are being used for this category of children. Medicines and devices are provided to patients under 10 years of age, and in the future, corresponding programs will be implemented for children under 18 years of age,” Avanesyan noted.

According to her, each year both the list of medicines provided to the population and the number of beneficiaries of the program are increasing.

“By guaranteeing treatment, we contribute to improving the detection of diseases in the country so that people are promptly notified of their diseases and take the necessary medications. As a result, this program leads to a reduction in disability and mortality,” Avanesyan said.
