Unfair competition cases in Armenia have grown in 2019

The reported number of unfair competition cases in Armenia  has grown in 2019, Gegham Gevorgyan, the chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, said at a news conference today.

YEREVAN, December 27. / ARKA /. The reported number of unfair competition cases in Armenia  has grown in 2019, Gegham Gevorgyan, the chairman of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, said at a news conference today.

According to Gegham Gevorgyan, unfair competition is the most common type of  fraudulent trade and commerce activity in the country involving  the use of someone else’s brand, misleading consumers  and so on.

He said the number of complaints about unfair competition has risen too by 10-15%, from 49 in 2018 to 53 in 2019.  In 2018, 9 cases of abuse of a dominant position in the market and collusion were recorded, while in 2019 their number has upped to 22.

He said  also in 2019, for the first time, government bodies were also inspected by the Commission and the largest fine, during his tenure, was imposed on Alco company in the amount of 32 million drams (about $66.8 thousand) .-- 0--
