YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/. The former chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) Tigran Jrbashyan has been replaced by the executive director of Contour Global Company Ara Hovsepyan, who has extensive experience of working with international organizations, the government and businesses. Jrbashyan was the eighth AmCham chairman over the past 15 years.

Speaking today at the final news conference he stressed the importance of close cooperation with the Embassy of the United States in Armenia and the Armenian government, thanking the US Ambassador Richard Mills for assistance to AmCham.

Jrbashyan said one of the biggest achievements of AmCham over the past two years was its significant role in the conclusion of the Trading Investment Framework, an agreement between Armenia and the United States on cooperation in trade and investment.

"I hope that this agreement will have a lasting impact on the Armenian-American cooperation", - Jrbashyan said.

AmCham also provided assistance to Armenia’s joining  the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative - an international standard to promote open and accountable management of extractive resources.
Jrbashyan added that unfortunately a cooperation platform established with the National Assembly did not pay in full, and there are still many issues that need to be addressed.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) is a totally independent and self-financed business organization.  The American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia is the leading business association in the country with around 100 members from all business segments. AmCham has been operating in Armenia continuously since 2000. Through advocacy efforts aimed at such areas as tax legislation and customs administration, AmCham represents its members' business interests in Armenia to the Armenian government, international organizations, and to the wider business community.

AmCham provides an excellent source of information about Armenian business life by publishing the only English-language business magazine in Armenia, and by hosting guest speakers from the Armenian government, international organizations, and from leading businesses. -0-
