Some $300 million may be invested in the construction of a copper smelter in Armenia, economic development and investment minister Suren Karayan told journalists on Thursday.
YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Some $300 million may be invested in the construction of a copper smelter in Armenia, economic development and investment minister Suren Karayan told journalists on Thursday.
"We are discussing with Chinese partners the preparation of a feasibility study of the project," Karayan said.
Earlier it was reported that the Armenian ministry was negotiating with Chinese investors their participation in the creation of a number of companies in Armenia - a copper smelter, a cement, as well as a glass and a perlite plants. The potential investors were said to be Chinese MCC Overseas, China National Building Materials Group Corporation and several others.
Several large enterprises are engaged in the extraction of copper concentrate in Armenia, which is exported to other countries. Copper concentrate is not processed in Armenia --0--
