Second Carrefour supermarket to open in Armenia in October

The French retailer Carrefour is expected to open its second supermarket in Yerevan in early October when the Armenian capital will be hosting a Francophonie summit, French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote told journalists on Friday.
YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. The French retailer Carrefour is expected to open its second supermarket in Yerevan in early October when the Armenian capital will be hosting a Francophonie summit, French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote told journalists on Friday.
The International Francophonie Summit will be held in Yerevan on October 11-12 under the slogan "Living together in solidarity, sharing humanistic values and respecting diversity as a source of peace and prosperity in the region of Francophonia." An economic forum will also be held as part of the event.
The ambassador said a lot of business people will arrive in Armenia not only from France, but also from other Francophone countries, and there is hope that the business forum will contribute to bringing new French investments to Armenia. The ambassador said also that French investors bring with them not only investment, but also education, ethics and principles of social responsibility.
The diplomat noted that French entrepreneurs are interested in the tourism and information technology sectors of Armenia. He said also that the new supermarket Carrefour will open ion Tigran Metz Street.
French retailer Carrefour SA opened its first supermarket in Yerevan in 2015 inside Yerevan Mall shopping center, occupying an area of 66 thousand square meters, of which about 10 thousand sq. m. meet Carrefour standards. -0-
