SCR employees median wage grows by 13.3% in 12 months

The Russian-controlled South Caucasus Railways (SCR) company operating Armenia’s railroad, said today the median wage of its employees rose by 13.3%.

YEREVAN, December 16. /ARKA/. The Russian-controlled South Caucasus Railways (SCR) company operating Armenia’s railroad, said today the median wage of its employees rose by 13.3% from 2010 October to 146,593 drams at the end of 2011 October. 

In a press release the company said when it took over the concesional management of Armenian railroads in 2008 May the average wage was 74,500 drams. In 2010 the median wage rose to 129,382 drams, it said, adding that the current wage nearly doubled from 2008. According to the press release, ensuring a decent wage for employees is one of the priorities of the company’s social policy, ‘because the hard work of railway men requires adequate incentives.’ 

"With this purpose the company regularly increases wages, sets various bonuses and additional payments," it said. It said the wages are set to grow further in 2012. For example, from January 1 to June 1, 2012 young specialists will get a monthly bonus of 30,000 drams. The South Caucasus Railways is run by Russian Railways. The concessional agreement was concluded in 2008 for 30 years, with a right of extension for another 20 years after the first 20 years of operation. ($1-382.29 drams).-0-
