YEREVAN, December 8. /ARKA/. Starting from September 1, 2024 online taxi service providers in Armenia will have to pay AMD 1mln (about $2.6 thousand)  state duty, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonyan said in parliament on Friday.

"This type of activity through electronic platforms is very widespread at the moment. Nevertheless, it is not regulated and controlled in any way," Simonyan said during the second and final reading of a package of amendments to the law "On Road Transport" and related laws.

Simonyan noted that a state duty will also have to be paid from each order. In case of non-cash payment from September 1, 2024, the duty will be 1.5%, 2.5% in 2025 and 4% in 2026. If paid in cash, from September 1, 2024 the duty will be 2%, 3.5% in 2025 and 5% in 2026.

Cabs will be required to install a cash register and provide electronic receipts.

"Today, neither drivers nor aggregators pay taxes on their proceeds," Simonyan noted, adding that cashless payments will make the turnover in cab transportation more transparent.  --0--
