Lufthansa hopes to increase number of cargo flights to Armenia

YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. Europe's largest air carrier Lufthansa hopes to increase the number of cargo flights to Armenia.

"I am very glad that our decision to start cargo flights to Armenia was welcomed and approved in a rather short period of time. Yesterday we had our first flight arriving from Frankfurt to Yerevan and flying back. The flights will be operated on a regular basis every Sunday. We hope that the market opportunities will allow us to increase the frequency of flights. At least we have ambitious plans for this market,’ said Anzhela Gilfanutdinova, Lufthansa Cargo AG General CEO for Sales and Service in CIS countries.

In his turn, Lufthansa Cargo AG Commercial Manager for Middle East, Africa, South Asia and CIS regions Hanno Burwitz noted that these flights connect Yerevan not only with Frankfurt, but also with the other 300 destinations the company flies to.

"We want to become a bridge between Armenia and the whole world and support the development of the Armenian economy," he said.

Gilfanutdinova told ARKA news agency that Yerevan is the first regional city to which Lufthansa operates flights.

"This decision was prompted by the high demand for cargo transportation to Armenia, including from Los Angeles, Paris and Brussels," she said. --0--
