Liquefied natural gas price jumps in Armenia: regulator says there are no competition violations

YEREVAN, May 3. /ARKA/. Prompted by a dramatic rise in the price of liquefied natural gas Armenia’s Commission for the Protection of Competition conducted a preliminary study of the liquefied natural gas market.

"The study showed that the market is extremely competitive with 86 business entities importing liquefied natural gas. Moreover, the largest business entities account for about 10% of the market. Therefore, there are no dominant enterprises in the market and anticompetitive agreements are not typical of it," the Commission said in a statement.

Over the past few days, the price of liquefied natural gas in Armenia has grown to 170-200 drams per liter from 110-130 drams a week ago.

According to some estimates, more than 80% of vehicles in Armenia run on either compressed or liquefied natural gas, a fuel that produces fewer harmful greenhouse gases than gasoline or diesel. ($1 - 386.85 drams). --0--
