YEREVAN, May 31. /ARKA/. Retail prices of diesel fuel in Armenia may go down in the near future, the Chairman of the Economic Competition Commission Gegham Gevorkyan said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly committees, he said neither the government, nor the Commission influence price changes in any way.

'Everything depends on the market and the volume of imports from two main diesel suppliers- Iran and Russia. We suppose that the prices are going to reduce, but it doesn't mean that it is we that will force them to reduce," Gevorgyan said.

In response to MPs question to explain what was behind the latest surge of the price of f liquid gas, which doubled, Gevorgyan said more than 80 companies import it to Armenia, ruling out a collusion.

According to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, petrol prices in April 2023 compared to April 2022, were down 28.9% and diesel fuel -11.8%. Compared to March of this year, prices of petrol and diesel fuel dropped by 1.6% and 2.7%, respectively. --0--
