Czech companies interested in starting new business relations with Armenian peers
YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Dozens of Czech and Armenian companies as well as foreign ministers of the two countries attended today an Armenian-Czech business forum, which was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia jointly with the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Armenia as part of the visit to Armenia by the Czech Foreign Minister Yakub Kullhanek.
Speaking at the event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said the forum was a good opportunity to bring the Armenian-Czech economic relations to a new level.
"Today's forum is also a good opportunity to talk about economic diplomacy. It is obvious that in the 21st century, every state should strive to have a stable, viable and comprehensive system of economic diplomacy," he said.
Mirzoyan noted that the most important direction of his ministry's work is modernization and implementation of mechanisms of economic diplomacy, which are to increase the flow of foreign investments to the country, boost foreign trade, tourism, stimulate the exchange of advanced technologies and experience, and promote cooperation between Armenian and foreign businesses.
"Taking this into account, we will ensure all conditions for Czech companies and investors to be more actively involved in Armenia. Favorable business environment, ongoing economic reforms, conditions for investments, security and freedom of Armenia create excellent preconditions for foreign business investments," he said.
The mutually beneficial cooperation with the Czech Republic includes such areas as high and information technologies, renewable energy, finance and banking, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and waste management.
"We also would like to have direct flights between Yerevan and Prague that will stimulate business ties and increase the number of tourists visiting both countries,’ he said.
In turn, Jakub Kullhanek noted that the Czech companies are interested in strengthening the existing business ties and creating new business relationships with Armenia. He said that the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing to send a delegation to Armenia in October to explore prospects for stepping up economic relations.
"I am convinced that this business forum will create new trade and business relations between Armenian and Czech companies for us," he said.
Thirteen Czech companies from such areas as aluminum production, tourism, sale of lifts and loaders, production of batteries, equipment for water purification, aesthetic medicine, financial and banking sector took part in the forum. The Armenian side was represented by over 30 companies. -0-
