Cattle numbering and registration starts in Armenia
YEREVAN, November 14. /ARKA/. A government-approved set of measures designed to record and number the cattle in Armenia has been launched, the Food Safety Inspection Authority said today.
It said the process began on November 12 in the Armavir region, then continued in the Ararat region.
"This initiative is an essential step to ensure safety in meat production and to establish effective control," the agency said.
Armenia's cattle numbering and registration program was approved by the government on June 11, 2020. The goal is to have a complete inventory of cattle, information about their location, movement, delivery of veterinary services. It will also greatly facilitate control over the possible spread of diseases.
According to earlier reports, the total cost of the program, designed for 2020-2023 is 1.4 billion drams.
The bulk of the work is e done by veterinarians who have completed special training courses. Farmers do not bear any costs. -0-
