Armenian SRC prevents smuggling out 199,000 packs of cigarettes

YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. Acting on a tip, the employees of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) and the National Security Service thwarted an attempt by a citizen of Armenia to smuggle out 199,000 packs of cigarettes, the State Revenue Committee said today.

According to it, the undeclared cigarettes without excise stamps were found in a truck when it was about to cross the Armenian border into Georgia.

It was found out that the citizen had declared 8 tons and 240 kg of stones for export and after going through the declaration procedure and before reaching the border crossing point, the driver unloaded part of the declared stones and loaded instead 4,630 kg of undeclared cigarettes.

The State Revenue Committee said investigation was initiated into the smuggling case.-0-
