Armenian SMEs secure 30 percent of jobs in private sector

Armenia’s small and medium-sized businesses had 246,702 people on their payrolls in 2017, which made 30% of all jobs in the private sector, according to a report by the Business Support Office.
YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s small and medium-sized businesses had 246,702 people on their payrolls in 2017, which made 30% of all jobs in the private sector, according to a report by the Business Support Office.
Of that number 122,142 people were employed by micro-businesses, 63,144 by small businesses and 61,416 by medium-sized businesses.
On average, each microbusiness employed 2 people securing a turnover of over 8.07 million drams, small businesses - 14 people and a turnover of 143.3 million drams, and medium businesses - 60 people and 628.6 million drams, respectively.
The report says the bulk of SMEs in Armenia are engaged in wholesale and retail trade. In total, 57% of SMEs are engaged in trade activities, and 21% in services. ($ 1 - 482.49 drams). -0
