Armenian regulator fines City LLC for violation of law

Armenia's State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) has fined the City LLC to the tune of 17.6 million drams (about $36,300) and issued a warning against Alex and Holding company for abuse of their dominant position in the local market of butter.
YEREVAN, August 3. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) has fined the City LLC to the tune of 17.6 million drams (about $36,300) and issued a warning against Alex and Holding company for abuse of their dominant position in the local market of butter.
According to the anti-trust agency, the behavior of the City LLC in the butter market from July 2018 to April 2020 inclusive created discriminatory conditions and obstacles for other economic entities to enter the market.
Specifically, the City LLC sold butter purchased from other importers or manufacturers on discriminatory conditions with higher margins than the butter bought from two other companies. It also had the latter's products in smaller quantities on its retail shelves.
The regulator also stated that the behavior of Alex and Holding in the butter wholesale market in the period from August 2018 to April 2020 contained discriminatory attitudes towards retail businesses, resulting from the company's lack of clear criteria for determination selling prices.
The Alex and Holding was told to eliminate the violation of the law within a month and to define clear criteria for determining the selling prices and other conditions.
The City LLC was given three months to eliminate the violation of the law by defining clear criteria for the acceptance of goods, their presentation, selling prices and other conditions in its trade network. ($1 - 485.33 drams). --0--
